I have this mug and do love it. I actually broke my first one but, (you really shouldnt set it on top of your car)I like it so much that I got a second (and probably a third after I break my current one). Both I have owned were fine, no leakage, the top does stain a little but I have not noticed any odor. The lack of the hole on the lid isnt an issue, it flexes enough to get your sip. If I could get this lid in a size to fit my regular coffee mug Id get that too.
It is a beautiful cup.
The only reason it is a 4 instead of 5 is its capacity, 8oz is just to small for the morning drive (but I have been trying to cut back anyways).

1) the cup gets too hot to handle in some places

I bought this cup after working as a chemist in a lab. There, I learned how much plastic can slough off containers and cups, especially at high temperatures. Even though no links have been made between ingesting most plastics at small doses and health, Id rather not ingest it. The cup is ceramic, a material that does not slough off. The lid is made of silicone, the same thing that covers baby spoons.
Unlike the previous reviewer, my cup has a hole on the lid through which you can drink (although its more convenient to drink without the lid).
I addition, it can contain 12 ounces- the same size as a Tall cup at Starbucks. So go ahead and ask the barista there to make your drink in it.

"I am not a Paper Cup" is double walled, maybe not as thermal as double-walled stainless, but still keeps coffee hot longer than a regular ceramic cup. The lid fits perfectly and is much more pleasant to sip from compared to the hard plastic lids. It fits every single car cup holder perfectly. To get the desired volume, fill to the very top, as the lid is absolutely dribble proof. Best thing, it is ceramic, not metal or plastic. I cant wait till they have it in dark brown and some funky patterns.
